Cases Of Drunk Driving
Drunk driving is where a person who is under the influence of alcohol above a given limit drives. In most incidences, this act is contrary to the law and therefore it is a crime. When drunk driving occurs, more often than not, accidents happen as a result. People may end up dead or state property and even individual property gets damaged because of those accidents.
Most of the drunk driving cases happen during the night, weekends and over the holidays. These are the times most people are free and see it fit to unwind from their daily occupations. Since these are the peak times of drunk driving, as a result, these are the times most accidents occur. Some of the accidents may be fatal or could maim the victims and even the drivers.
Drunk driving accidents occur so easily. This is because when a person is drunk, they lose so much of their mental capacity and end up behaving irresponsibly. Over speeding, ignoring of road signs that indicate things such as bumps are the traffic offenses caused by drunk driving.
A lot of publicity has been done so as to reduce the level of drinking and driving. Some taxi companies even base their marketing on the same but despite all that, drunk driving still controls the day. The cases are at times brought down when taxi drivers strategically place themselves outside drinking joints to ferry the alcohol drinkers to their destinations instead of driving when drunk. It is important to put taxi drivers out of drinking joints This may work but sometimes the driver arrives to the drinking joint with their car and they find it difficult to leave it behind. Sometimes drivers do not have cab money because they spent all of it on the alcohol they buy. It is always a trend to people who own cars to drive after drinking
Another preventive measure is by having traffic police be more vigilant at during these drunk driving peak times. This mostly works because the penalties out in place are tough on the crime, it being an offense against the country’s law. Huge fines may be imposed on the crime and/or jail term if the offense resulted in fatalities or property destruction. The offensive driver has the possibility of losing their driving license.
Many bad things happen to the parties that get involved in a drunk driving case. Because human beings can never cease taking alcohol; it is a terrible phenomenon that will always exist. The best approach would be to make the penalties even tougher to bear. It is upon people to learn the many moral lessons that have been as a result of drunk driving and maybe bring generational change. From at a young age, kids should be taught about drunk driving and its grave results. In this way, changes to the next generation is achieved then drunk driving can be a thing of the past
